The Initiative to Eliminate Statelessness (IES) seeks to increase awareness about the issue of statelessness in Syria, specifically the discriminatory legislation against women in terms of granting their nationality to their children. Such discrimination even worsens the lives of stateless people who suffer from social exclusion and difficulties in getting papers, accessing education, and other services. We work on activities highlighting the challenges that stateless people face and raising awareness of local and international communities about the issue. We aim to facilitate change in community and nationality laws, support the integration of stateless people within the community, and ensure they reach justice and have access to all their rights.
An advocacy campaign launched in 2020 that introduced the local community to the issue of statelessness, its different cases, and the circumstances of women deprived form the right to rant their nationality.
